ALL ACCESS sends condolences to the family and many friends of longtime NASHVILLE media figure CHUCK DAUPHIN, who passed away WEDNESDAY (9/18) in a NASHVILLE hospice facility at the age of 45 following several years of health complications.

DAUPHIN began working in radio in 1991, most notably at R&F COMMUNICATIONS WDKN/DICKSON, TN (where he worked for 18 years, rising to the PD chair), HICKMAN COUNTY BROADCASTING WNKX (KIX 96)/CENTERVILLE, TN and RYMAN HOSPITALITY WSM-A/NASHVILLE. He also worked as a record promoter, and has been a freelance writer for various outlets, including BILLBOARD — where he had been a contributor since 2011 — and THE DICKSON HERALD. DAUPHIN was the recipient of the COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION’s (CMA) Media Achievement Award in 2014.

“I can’t carry a tune or play an instrument, but I have always loved telling people about music — whether a superstar like TIM MCGRAW or LEE ANN WOMACK, a legend like KENNY ROGERS, or a brand-new artist that nobody has ever heard of — yet,” DAUPHIN told BILLBOARD in 2014.

“It’s an absolute honor to be able to give these artists a platform to talk about their careers,” DAUPHIN told the CMA after winning his award. “I consider myself a professional, but at the end of the day, I am also a fan – still remembering being that 12-year old listening to KENNY ROGERS or REBA MCENTIRE on late night radio.”

Friends are remembering him and grieving his loss on DAUPHIN’s FACEBOOK page here. Memorial service arrangements will be announced here later this week. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations in DAUPHIN’s’s name be made to MUSIC HEALTH ALLIANCE, MUSICARES, ALIVE HOSPICE, the OPRY TRUST FUND and/or the NASHVILLE HUMANE ASSOCIATION.
